Composition
Presence, launched in 2001 and created by Corinne Cachen, is an oriental spicy Eau de Toilette for men. Cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and bergamot open over apple, sage and heliotrope, drying down to tonka bean, sandalwood, teak wood, white musk and amber.
To me this smells like a spice godown in Khari Baoli — cinnamon bark, cardamom pods, and fresh ginger cracked open in clouds of dust, bergamot cutting through like a squeezed lime. Then apple and sage cool it down, and tonka, sandalwood, and teak settle into something warm and polished, like old furniture. The heliotrope brings a powdery, almost almond softness to the spice, and the teak and amber at the base are polished wood and warmth — like a well-kept old shop. It is Christmas morning in a spice market: warm, generous, and built for cold weather. Beginner-friendly.
