Composition
Individuel, launched in 2003 and created by Pierre Bourdon, is an oriental woody Eau de Toilette for men. Aromatic spices, pineapple, lavender and mint open over orange blossom, violet, geranium and jasmine, drying down to raspberry, vanilla, sandalwood, dark chocolate, amber and musk.
To me this smells like a winter wedding dessert table — pineapple and lavender colliding with cinnamon and mint in the most 2003 way possible, and somehow it works. Orange blossom and jasmine float through the middle like garlands, and then raspberry, vanilla and dark chocolate melt into the base. It is sweet, unapologetic, and weirdly comforting, like a memory of a party you actually enjoyed. A gourmand for men before gourmands were cool. Juniper and rosemary flicker at the edges, keeping the sweetness from going flat. Beginner-friendly.
