Composition
Emblem Intense, launched alongside Emblem in spring 2014, is a spicier, deeper take on the original for men. Grapefruit, coriander, cardamom and clary sage open over cinnamon bark, frosted violet leaf, nutmeg and Pomarose, drying down to patchouli, suede, tonka bean and precious woods. The silver star-shaped bottle mirrors the original.
To me this smells like an old study in a hill-station hotel — grapefruit and cardamom sparking in the air like the first sip of masala chai, clary sage keeping it green and grown-up. Then the heart goes warm: cinnamon bark, nutmeg, a frosted violet leaf that is somehow both cool and cosy, like a woollen shawl. The base is where it lives: patchouli, suede, tonka over precious woods — soft, spiced, expensive-feeling. It is deeper than the original Emblem but never heavy. A winter-evening scent for someone who reads the menu before ordering. Beginner-friendly.
