Composition
Launched in 2004, L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Pour Homme is an aromatic-fresh take on the house's masculine line. Rosemary, lime, mandarin orange and lemongrass lead into a herbal-spicy heart of cypress, juniper berries, ginger, lavender and pink pepper. Atlas cedar, patchouli, oakmoss, sandalwood and amber ground the base.
To me this is the original's cooler, woodier brother. Rosemary and lime and lemongrass snap green at the top, and then it goes deep into the forest — cypress, juniper berries, ginger, lavender, pink pepper, star anise, even a strange green flash of nasturtium. It smells like hiking in the Western Ghats after rain, everything crushed and fragrant underfoot. Atlas cedar, patchouli, oakmoss, sandalwood and amber make the base dark and mossy, like the floor of that forest. It's aromatic and woody where the original was aquatic and bright. A connoisseur's Issey. Beginner-friendly.
