Composition
A 2000 lighter interpretation of Le Feu d'Issey, also housed in the signature round flacon. Anise, coconut, bergamot and rose lead to a soft heart of milk, caramel, hortensia and jasmine. The base of vanilla, sandalwood, musk, guaiac wood and white amber keeps the warmer oriental character in a lighter register.
To me this smells like a tropical kitchen where someone is making coconut sweets for a festival. Aniseed sparks first — cool, licorice-bright — then coconut and milk flood in, creamy and warm, with caramel bubbling at the edges like sugar in a brass kadhai. Rose drifts through like garlands hung over the doorway. Sandalwood and white amber settle underneath, soft as woodsmoke from the next lane. It's a gourmand with a beach soul — sweet, milky, and glowing like late-afternoon sun. Beginner-friendly.
