Composition
A citrus-oriental created for the 5th anniversary of Roja's Burlington Arcade boutique. Grapefruit, mint, lime, bitter orange and mandarin orange open into a deep base of ambergris, oakmoss, tobacco, ginger, rum, cashmere wood, musk, cedar, cumin, patchouli, benzoin, labdanum, cinnamon, vanilla and saffron.
To me this smells like London's most elegant arcade on a summer morning. Grapefruit, mint, lime, bitter orange and mandarin open in a citrus explosion — the brightest opening Roja ever made — cold and sparkling as a gin and tonic. Then it descends, gloriously, into the base: tobacco and rum, ginger and cumin, ambergris and oakmoss, benzoin and labdanum, cinnamon and vanilla and saffron — a gentleman's club in scent form, all dark wood and old money. From sunshine to cigar smoke in one wearing. The journey is the point. Beginner-friendly.
