Composition
An oriental floral parfum, the third of the Parfum de la Nuit series. Bergamot opens into rose and artemisia, over leather, incense, cumin, amber, saffron, benzoin, gurjan balsam, cardamom, styrax, labdanum, cypriol, sandalwood, cedar, juniper, amyris, guaiac wood and patchouli.
To me this smells like midnight in a Marrakech souk — bergamot flashes once, bright as a struck match, and then the dark takes over. Rose, deep red and velvet, with artemisia's bitter green bite, and then leather: dark, polished, dangerous. Incense and cumin rise like smoke from a brazier, saffron threads gold through the dark, amber and benzoin glowing like coals. Gurjan balsam, styrax, labdanum, cypriol — a whole caravan of resins — over sandalwood, cedar, juniper, guaiac, patchouli. It's the night itself, bottled: resinous, leathery, animal-warm. Gorgeous and completely uncompromising. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
