A 2012 edition from the Les Parfums de Cuir collection celebrating twenty years of Thierry Mugler fragrances, made by soaking the original Angel in natural leather for four weeks. The iconic gourmand is infused with leather and accented with iris and apricot. Leather, cotton candy, cassia, coconut, melon, jasmine, mandarin and bergamot open the scent, a fruity-floral heart follows, and dark chocolate, caramel, tonka bean, vanilla, amber and musk ground the base.
Scent story
To me this smells like a leather tannery that got taken over by a mithai shop. The opening is pure Angel chaos — cotton candy and melon and berries piled high, cassia and coconut in the mix — and then the leather arrives, dark and animalic, like someone draped a new saddle over a pile of jalebi. The middle is all honey and dark fruit, rich and sticky, and the base is leather over dark chocolate and caramel, patchouli keeping it earthy, vanilla and amber glowing underneath. It is glorious and excessive and will announce you three rooms before you arrive. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
