Composition
A*Men is the masculine counterpart to Angel, a bold gourmand with a chocolate-coffee core. It opens with lavender, mint, fruity and green notes, coriander and bergamot, develops into a heart of caramel, patchouli, honey, milk, cedar, jasmine and lily-of-the-valley, and dries down to coffee, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin, amber, sandalwood and musk. Presented in the iconic rubber flask, it is one of the defining masculine gourmands.
To me this smells like walking into an old-school mithai shop that also happens to sell espresso. Lavender and mint and bergamot hit first — a classic barbershop feint — and then the trapdoor opens: caramel, honey, milk, coffee, and that unmistakable chocolate-patchouli engine that has been running since 1996. This is not a scent, it is a dare. The patchouli is dark and earthy, the coffee is bitter, the vanilla and tonka are drowning in benzoin amber — sweet, yes, but the kind of sweet that could start a bar fight. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
