Composition
Launched in 2004 as the masculine counterpart to the house's 2, created by Mark Buxton. Aldehydes, nutmeg and caraway open into iris, vetiver and saffron, over leather, incense and mahogany. Smoky, woody and powerfully masculine.
To me this smells like the inside of an old Delhi haveli's library at night — aldehydes giving that cold, electric first breath like a struck match, nutmeg and caraway dusting the air the way spice boxes breathe through a wooden cupboard. Then the incense takes over, saffron and vetiver smoldering somewhere in the corner, while worn leather armchairs and mahogany shelves close around you. It is dark, dry, and oddly austere — there is no sweetness to hide behind. One spray is a whole mood: smoke, dust, and the memory of money. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
