Composition
A 2001 portrait of Casanova. Licorice, citrus, grapefruit and bergamot open into lavender and star anise, over vanilla, almond, sandalwood, amber and cedar. Seductive, sweet and aromatic.
To me this smells like a Venetian mask shop that secretly sells mithai. Black licorice and star anise hit first, sweet and strange like saunf candy, then grapefruit and bergamot cut through like a cold sea breeze off the canal. Lavender keeps it dapper — powdered wigs and silk waistcoats — while vanilla, almond and amber melt into pure confectionery in the drydown. Sandalwood and cedar hold the whole dessert cart upright so it never collapses into syrup. Playful, romantic, unapologetically sweet — the perfume equivalent of a wink across a crowded room. Beginner-friendly.
