Composition
Released in 2010, evoking the Belle Epoque cabaret. Plum, cinnamon and tangerine open into rose tincture and wormwood, settling on iris, musk and patchouli. Theatrical, powdery and bohemian.
To me this smells like backstage at a nautanki theatre — gaslight, crushed velvet curtains, and a dancer's dressing table scattered with plum skins and tangerine peel. The cinnamon is warm and slightly dangerous, and there's the green absinthe bite of wormwood underneath the rose, like a secret the perfume is only half keeping. Then the powder comes: iris, soft as rice powder on a collarbone, musk settling over everything like dust in a spotlight beam. The patchouli keeps it from floating away entirely — earth under the glitter. It is theatrical, yes, but the theatre of someone having the time of her life. Beginner-friendly.
