Composition
A 2009 opulent floral by Jeanne-Marie Faugier. A sparkling citrus-floral opening unfolds into a lush heart of orange flower, tuberose and ylang-ylang, settling on fruits, caramel, coconut and vanilla. Baroque and abundant.
To me this smells like a Sicilian wedding feast that goes on for three days. Tangerine and grapefruit and orange, juiced by the litre; magnolia and tuberose and ylang in every vase; peach, plum, raspberry piled in bowls until the tables groan. Cardamom and pepper in the savoury dishes drifting over from the kitchen. And then dessert, forever: caramel, coconut, vanilla, heliotrope like almond icing. It just keeps coming — course after course of flowers and fruit and sugar, with oakmoss and amber underneath like the old stone villa holding it all up. Excess, joyfully done. Beginner-friendly.
