Composition
Sculpteur d'Épices 1945 is the spiced opus of the Noir Premier collection, a Harrods exclusive. Bergamot and black pepper open the composition, while cinnamon forms the heart alongside rose and jasmine absolute. Labdanum, tonka bean and patchouli make up the base.
To me this is a spice atelier in Grasse — bergamot and black pepper cracked over the workbench, cinnamon, rose, and jasmine absolute measured into brass bowls. Labdanum, tonka, and patchouli underneath are the old wooden drawers, resinous and dark, where the recipes live. The jasmine absolute is indolic and rich, almost animalic, against all that spice, and the labdanum is resin and leather — this is the spice drawer of someone interesting. The spiciest of the Noir Premiers: warm, crafted, and a little intoxicating, like the inside of a perfumer's organ. Beginner-friendly.
