Composition
Nilang is Lalique's original aquatic-oriental fragrance, inspired by the lotus flower. Jasmine, freesia, water lily and narcissus open the composition, leading to a heart of lotus and blueberry. Sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla and praline form the drydown.
To me this smells like a lotus pond at dawn, when the mist hasn't lifted yet and the flowers are just opening. Jasmine, freesia, water lily and narcissus float over the water — delicate, dewy, barely there — and then lotus and blueberry arrive in the heart, adding a strange sweet fruitiness like berries found growing wild at the water's edge. The dry-down turns it into a memory: sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla and praline, warm and creamy like something remembered from childhood. Aquatic and floral on top, gourmand underneath — a dream of water that ends in dessert. Beginner-friendly.
