Composition
Released in 2014, inspired by ancient Roman gladiators - a rudis was a wooden sword of freedom. Grapes, dried fruits and bergamot open into saffron, rose and woods, over leather, incense, immortelle, vetiver, patchouli and musk. Dark, leathery and victorious.
To me Rudis is a Roman arena at dusk — dried grapes and figs crushed underfoot, bergamot bright against the dust, saffron and rose drifting from the flower sellers at the gates. Then the leather hits: worn gladiator sandals, oiled and dark, with incense smoke curling up from braziers. Immortelle adds that strange curry-maple warmth, vetiver and patchouli grounding it all in dry earth. It smells like history with sweat on it — triumphant, animalic, a little feral. This is not a perfume for sitting quietly; it's for entering rooms like you own them. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
