Composition
A 2015 take on the classic fougere. Lavender, basil, bergamot and black pepper open into tobacco, aldehydes, geranium and elemi, over vetiver, patchouli, tonka, musk and sandalwood. A barbershop classic, modernized.
To me this is a barbershop in the hills, the old kind with the striped pole. Lavender and basil and bergamot open green and clean, black pepper adding a wink, and then tobacco drifts in — not cigarette smoke, but the sweet, dry smell of a fresh cigar box, geranium and elemi keeping it polished. It smells like a grandfather who was cooler than you. Vetiver, patchouli, tonka, musk and sandalwood dry it down into something warm and gentlemanly. It's classic without being dated, green without being sharp. A fougère for people who thought they didn't like fougères. Beginner-friendly.
