Composition
Launched in 2020, Nuit d'Issey Polaris takes its name from the North Star. Black pepper, cypress and bergamot open onto a woody heart of agarwood (oud), patchouli and cedar. Vanilla, leather, gurjan balsam, amber and labdanum give the base a warm, balsamic depth.
To me this smells like a pine forest at midnight in winter, the kind of cold that makes sound travel. Cypress and black pepper snap in the air like frost; bergamot is a brief moonbeam. And then the dark: oud, deep and resinous, rising like smoke from a fire you can't see. Leather and patchouli, gurjan balsam thick as temple oil, vanilla and amber glowing low like embers under ash. It's enormous — a whole night sky of a scent, stars and all. You don't wear this to blend in. You wear it to be the weather. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
