Composition
Living Lalique is a floral woody musk composed by Richard Ibanez. Lavender, bergamot and mint open the composition, leading to a heart of black pepper, iris, nutmeg and rose. The base layers vetiver, cashmeran, sandalwood, tonka bean, cedar, orris, vanilla and labdanum.
To me this smells like a walk through a formal garden just after rain. Lavender, bergamot and mint open fresh and aromatic — crisp, green, alive — and then black pepper, iris, nutmeg and rose add spice and powder in the heart. The base is a whole forest floor of vetiver, cashmeran, sandalwood, tonka and cedar, with orris and vanilla softening everything into suede. Structured, elegant, quietly complex — it rewards attention. The lavender-mint opening feels almost masculine at first, which only makes the floral heart more interesting when it arrives. Beginner-friendly.
