Composition
Olivier Cresp's landmark 1996 aquatic floral. Frosted mint, reed and green lilac lead over water lily, violet and white peach, resting on cedar, white musk and a whisper of vanilla. Crystalline, green and endlessly fresh.
To me this smells like standing knee-deep in a Himalayan stream. Frosted mint and reed rush up first — cold, green, impossibly fresh — and green lilac drifts across like pollen on the water. The water lily floats through the middle, serene and glassy, with white peach adding just a blush of sweetness. The drydown is skin-clean: cedar pale as driftwood, white musk like a freshly laundered shirt, a whisper of vanilla. It is the scent of being perfectly, completely clean — a reset button for the nose. Beginner-friendly.
