Composition
Daphne Bugey's 2009 floral explosion. Grapefruit, neroli, black currant and cardamom open over gardenia, frangipani and rose, with musk and Virginia cedar. Loud, exotic and unapologetically floral.
To me this smells like a florist's shop exploding in the best possible way. Grapefruit and neroli and black currant fizz at the opening, cardamom adding a spicy sparkle — and then gardenia, frangipani and rose arrive in full, tropical, unapologetic bloom. The musk and Virginia cedar base just barely keeps it civilized. Loud, exotic, drenched in flowers — the kind of scent that enters the room half a second before you do, and nobody minds. The black currant keeps winking through the florals, tart and juicy, stopping the bouquet from ever turning polite. Beginner-friendly.
