Composition
Dominique Ropion's 2014 sensual flanker. Cardamom, grapefruit and coriander open over mango, artemisia, wormwood and geranium, with tonka bean, vetiver and guaiac wood. Playful, magnetic and made for evenings.
To me this smells like a night market in Bangkok — cardamom and coriander cracking in hot oil, grapefruit bright as neon, and then mango, wormwood, and geranium, green and strange and addictive. Tonka, vetiver, and guaiac wood underneath are the wooden stalls, smoke-dark and sweet. The wormwood and artemisia bring a bitter green bite that keeps the mango from going tropical-tourist, and the guaiac wood is smoke and sweetness — night air with a pulse. It is Kenzo Homme after dark: spicier, fruitier, a little wild. The daytime scent's mischievous twin. Beginner-friendly.
