Composition
The 2020 summer edition for women, inspired by the Kolam art of Tamil Nadu and created with perfumer Marie Salamagne. Freesia, grapefruit and cardamom open over jasmine sambac, May rose and basmati rice. Ambergris and cedar complete the base.
To me this smells like a Chennai courtyard at dawn, just after the kolam has been drawn. Freesia and grapefruit lift like the first light, cardamom warms the air like chai from the kitchen, and jasmine sambac — mogra — hangs heavy and white over the walls. Then the basmati rice note arrives, steamy and starchy, like the morning's first pot coming to the boil. Ambergris and cedar settle underneath, salty-sweet and warm as sun on stone. It's India at its most tender: flowers, rice, and the quiet geometry of a new day. Beginner-friendly.
