Composition
The 2017 summer edition of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, designed with Philippe Apeloig. Grapefruit, kiwi and coriander open over pineapple and nutmeg. Cypress and vetiver complete the woody dry-down.
To me this smells like a beachside fruit chaat cart in Pondicherry — grapefruit and kiwi sharp and juicy, pineapple caramelizing in the sun, coriander leaf doing that thing it does where it's either genius or madness. It's vacation in a bottle, no itinerary required. Nutmeg warms the middle like sand that's been in the sun all day, and then cypress and vetiver dry it down green and earthy — the smell of the tree line behind the beach, where the shade starts. It never gets heavy; it just keeps sparkling. The rare summer flanker that actually smells like summer, not like a marketing meeting. Beginner-friendly.
