Composition
An oriental-woody edition of L'Eau d'Issey built around incense, evoking golden smoke where incandescent water meets molten rock. Rose and labdanum open onto incense, pink pepper and cumin over a warm base of sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, amberwood and leather.
To me this is dusk in a pine grove — Rose, lush and velvety and labdanum, dark ambery resin cool, green and deeply calm. Underneath, Incense, cold sacred smoke, pink pepper, rosy and sparkling and cumin, sweaty and earthy-spicy gather like a slow chord, deepening everything around them. The dry-down is Leather, dark and supple, amberwood, dry and radiant, sandalwood, creamy and smooth, dry cedar, pencil-shaving woods and vetiver, green and earthy — smooth, grounding, and quietly addictive. It ends like the last scene of a good film — you want to experience it again. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
