Composition
A 2010 woody-spicy flanker of L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, presented in a wood-textured flask. It opens with yuzu, cypress, lemon verbena, bergamot, lemon, sage and coriander, then moves through a spiced heart of blue lotus, nutmeg, saffron, Ceylon cinnamon and geranium. The dry-down rests on Tahitian vetiver, cedar, sandalwood and musk.
A Japanese garden after rain, with a spice market somewhere beyond the wall. Yuzu and lemon verbena shine like wet leaves, cypress and sage smell green and ancient, and then saffron, nutmeg and cinnamon warm the air like something cooking far away. Vetiver, cedar and sandalwood ground it in dark, damp earth. It is the most complex fresh scent Issey Miyake ever made — citrus on top, forest and fire below. The blue lotus is the strange aquatic heart — cool, floral, almost otherworldly — floating over all that citrus and spice. It is the most interesting thing Issey Miyake ever bottled. Beginner-friendly.
