Composition
Issey Miyake's landmark 1992 women's fragrance, inspired by water. It opens on lotus, melon, freesia, rose water and calone, blooming into a heart of lily-of-the-valley, lily, water peony and carnation. The base settles into musk, tuberose, osmanthus, exotic woods, cedar, sandalwood and amber.
To me this is a waterfall pouring over a lotus pond — calone and watery notes first, that unmistakable 90s aquatic freshness, then lotus and melon and freesia blooming in the spray. Rose water and cyclamen keep it floral and dewy; lily of the valley adds that green-white brightness. It dries down softer, musk and sandalwood with a breath of amber, like the mist settling on warm stones. This is the scent that taught a generation what fresh could smell like — and honestly, it still works. Clean as mountain water, pretty without trying. Beginner-friendly.
