Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant is a 1996 Oriental Spicy fragrance for women, composed by Dominique Ropion. Named after Kenzo's first Paris boutique, it opens with a burst of clove, cumin and mandarin, blooms into an exotic heart of ylang-ylang, mango and licorice, and settles into vanilla, amber and patchouli. A cult 90s classic, beloved and divisive in equal measure.
This is not a fragrance that walks in quietly — it arrives. The opening is a spice market explosion: clove, cumin, cardamom, sharp and pungent, like walking past a garam masala stall at full blast. The heart softens into tropical mango, creamy ylang-ylang and dark licorice, while the base wraps everything in vanilla, amber and patchouli warmth. In an Indian winter — Delhi December, anyone — it wears like a spice-infused shawl, and it has genuine vintage staying power. NOT for beginners: this is loud, dense, and polarizing, the kind of scent that gets you stopped in elevators (compliments or complaints). If you love it, you'll love it fiercely; if you don't, you'll know in one spray.
