Composition
A*Men Pure Havane is the 2011 flanker of A*Men, a gourmand interpretation of fine Cuban cigars by perfumer Jacques Huclier. It opens with fresh tobacco leaves and white honey, develops into patchouli, vanilla and bitter cocoa, and settles on a warm oriental base of labdanum, amber and styrax. One of the most celebrated tobacco gourmands in designer perfumery.
To me this smells like the inside of a Cuban cigar shop at dusk — not the smoke, but the leaves themselves: dry, honeyed tobacco, sweet as jaggery, stacked in cedar boxes. White honey drips over everything, vanilla and cacao melt into it like the center of a truffle, patchouli adding that dark, earthy growl. Labdanum, amber and styrax make the base glow like the last embers in a hookah bowl. The most celebrated flanker in the A*Men line, for a reason — rich, warm, impossibly smooth. Pure indulgence, bottled. Beginner-friendly.
