Composition
Ambre Cashmere Intense is a unisex eau de parfum from Parfums de Nicolaï, launched in 2015. It opens with black pepper, mandarin and lemon, the heart revealing orris butter, violet and clove. The base rests on vanilla absolute, labdanum absolute, benzoin resinoïd, tonka bean absolute, patchouli, sandalwood, musk and amber. The amber chord is built on the association of vanillin and labdanum.
To me this smells like being wrapped in a pashmina on a cold Srinagar evening — black pepper and mandarin flashing first like lights on the Dal Lake, citron bright, and then orris and violet powder soft as the shawl itself, cloves warming it like kehwa. The base is pure comfort: amber, vanilla, labdanum, benzoin, tonka, sandalwood, patchouli, musk — resinous, sweet, endless. Warm, powdery, enveloping — amber as a cashmere blanket. The "intense" is in the richness, not the volume. Beginner-friendly.
