New York Intense is a unisex eau de parfum from Parfums de Nicolaï, launched in 2014 and composed by Patricia de Nicolaï. Bergamot, artemisia, lemon and thyme open into lavender, chamomile, clove and cinnamon. The base rests on resins, styrax, incense, tonka bean and musk. A modern, gentlemanly woody aromatic with an old-school character.
Scent story
To me this smells like a Manhattan apothecary in autumn. Bergamot and lemon shine bright at first, but artemisia and thyme pull it herbal and green — like a window box of herbs above a busy street — with lavender and chamomile adding a calm, almost medicinal softness. Then the spices deepen: clove and cinnamon warm as mulled wine, resins and styrax glowing amber, a thread of incense like smoke from a church door. Tonka and musk round it into something wearable. It is a city scent with a soul. Beginner-friendly.
