Caravansérail Intense is a unisex eau de parfum from Parfums de Nicolaï, launched in 2023 and composed by Patricia de Nicolaï. Inspired by the Levant and the coffee-and-spice trade routes, it opens with coffee, plum and raspberry, the heart blending cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, patchouli and sandalwood. The base settles into amber, vanilla, tonka bean and immortelle.
To me this is a caravan camp at night — coffee brewing over the fire, black and bitter, plum and raspberry drying on the racks. Cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon crack in the heat, patchouli and sandalwood in the tent canvas, and amber, vanilla, and tonka underneath glow like the coals. The immortelle is honeyed and almost curry-like, strange and addictive, and the tonka is warm hay — the caravan keeps its secrets, but they all smell incredible. The Silk Road in a bottle: coffee, spice, and dried fruit, wrapped in warm amber. It smells like stories told after dark. Beginner-friendly.
