Composition
Violette Angel is part of the 2005 Garden of Stars collection, an oriental-floral built around violet. It opens with sugar, violet leaf and hyacinth, develops into a heart of violet and woodsy notes, and settles on patchouli, vanilla and oakmoss. Thin, sweet and elegant, the violet is wrapped in Angel's signature gourmand warmth.
To me this smells like the violet pastille tin my nani kept in her purse — that old-fashioned, powdery sweetness — except someone dusted it with sugar and poured it over warm vanilla. The violet is the star: powdery, a little green at the edges from the violet leaf and hyacinth, wrapped in Angel's signature praline warmth. Patchouli and oakmoss keep it grounded so it never floats away into pure candy. Thin, sweet, elegant — like a watercolor next to Angel's oil painting. The gentlest door into the Angel universe.
