Composition
The original 2022 extrait de parfum from Byredo's Night Veils collection, a dark amber-woody vanilla with plum, musk, white woods and labdanum. (A 2025 re-edition with different notes exists; this record covers the original.)
Plum and musk open it with a dark, jammy sweetness — then white woods and labdanum add smoke and resin, like vanilla pods charred at the edges. The vanilla-amber base is deep and balsamic rather than sugary, warming the skin for hours. It smells like an old library where someone left vanilla and incense burning. Winter evenings; a little goes far. For experienced vanilla lovers — beginners may find it too dark.
