Scent story

To me this smells like 1911, and I mean that as a compliment and a warning. Lemon, lime, mandarin and bergamot open with the bright snap of a classic eau de Portugal, lavender and basil adding an aromatic crispness — and then it darkens into something from another century. Neroli and lily-of-the-valley give way to labdanum, oakmoss and leather, the smell of old port ledgers and polished wood in a merchant's office. Musk and sandalwood soften the edges, but this remains a deep, intensely aromatic chypre built for a different era's idea of elegance. Magnificent, leathery, and utterly uncompromising. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
