Zizonia is Penhaligon's mysterious oriental, originally created in the 1930s and relaunched in 2010 in the Anthology Collection. Cardamom, bergamot, coriander and orange open into ginger, lavender, nutmeg, pepper and geranium, over vetiver, sandalwood, Virginia cedar, amber and patchouli. A desert odyssey of spices — a luxurious oasis of sweet orange, ginger and vetiver.
Scent story
To me this smells like a 1930s ocean liner's smoking room — cardamom, coriander, and bergamot bright as polished brass, ginger and lavender in the air, nutmeg and pepper and a whisper of cumin, strange and addictive. Vetiver, sandalwood, and amber underneath are the teak decks, worn smooth by decades. The geranium is green and rosy, an old barbershop flower, and the Virginia cedar is dry pencil wood — spice with excellent manners. Mysterious, spicy, and old-world: an oriental for people who read old travel journals. Beginner-friendly.
