Composition
Heartless Helen is a 2019 Eau de Parfum for women from Penhaligon's Portraits collection, composed by Dominique Ropion. It is a creamy white-floral built around tuberose and jasmine, opened with mandarin orange and pink pepper and grounded in cashmeran and woods. It is one of the most tuberose-forward fragrances in the Portraits line.
A fistful of rajnigandha — tuberose — carried through a burst of santra, then laid on sandalwood. Heartless Helen is tuberose at full volume: creamy, waxy, slightly animalic, with none of the shyness other white florals hide behind. For anyone who has walked past a tuberose garland at an Indian wedding and stopped to breathe it in, this is that flower turned into perfume. Beginners beware: this is a tuberose bomb. If you only mildly like white florals, this will overwhelm you.
