Part of Thierry Mugler's autumn 2011 Taste of Fragrance project uniting perfumery with gourmet cuisine, with recipes by chef Hélène Darroze. The oriental-woody A*Men is spiced with red chili pepper: bergamot, lavender, coriander and mint open over a heart of patchouli, red pepper and cedar, settling into coffee, styrax, tonka bean, vanilla and musk. Sold as a 100 ml Eau de Toilette.
Scent story
To me this smells like a midnight kitchen where a chef decided dessert needed danger. Bergamot, lavender and mint open bright and herbal, almost like the calm before — and then the red pepper hits, spicing the patchouli and cedar heart until the whole thing smolders. It's the oriental-woody A*Men you know, set on fire from the inside. The base brings it back to earth: coffee, styrax, tonka bean and vanilla melting into something dark and edible, like drinking hot chocolate someone stirred with a cinnamon stick that had opinions. Gourmand, spicy, and theatrical in the best way. Beginner-friendly.
