Composition
Satine is an oriental woody fragrance by Nathalie Lorson built around white tonka bean. Heliotrope, gardenia and jasmine form a luminous white-floral opening, while tonka bean, vanilla and pink pepper make up the gourmand heart. Sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver close the composition.
To me this smells like silk sheets dusted with vanilla sugar. Heliotrope, gardenia and jasmine open luminous and powdery — white flowers in soft focus — and then the white tonka bean and vanilla take over, creamy and warm like fresh baking. Pink pepper adds just a whisper of spice, and the sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver base keeps it from floating away entirely. Elegant, powdery, quietly luxurious — the perfume equivalent of good lighting. The heliotrope gives it that vintage powder-room glow, like the scent of a dressing table belonging to someone impossibly chic. Beginner-friendly.
