Scent story

To me this smells like jasmine at dusk in a field that is not entirely safe. The opening is honeyed and strange — jasmine and buckwheat flower, that dark, almost animalic honey note, clove adding a dry, medicinal spice. It smells like late summer, like something blooming too intensely. And then the leather arrives with styrax, and the whole thing turns: flowers over a worn saddle, sweetness over something feral. Musk, woods, and amber in the base never quite tame it. This is Lutens at his most uncompromising — a jasmine for people who find jasmine boring. It is magnificent and it is not for everyone. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
