Composition
Daim Blond is Serge Lutens' 2004 suede floral, a study in softness. Apricot, hawthorn and plum blur into iris, heliotrope and rose, over a base of suede, musk, sandalwood and cardamom. Powdery, downy and intimate — the scent of blonde suede gloves.
To me this smells like a pair of blonde suede gloves, worn soft by years of careful hands. Apricot, hawthorn and plum blur into the opening like watercolor — fruity but hazy, never sharp — with cardamom adding the faintest warm breath. Iris, heliotrope and rose powder the heart like face powder, and then the suede arrives: soft, downy, intimate, over musk and sandalwood. It's a study in softness — the quietest Lutens, and maybe the most tender. Like being forgiven for something. Beginner-friendly.
