Composition
Orchidée Blanche is a feminine eau de parfum from L'Artisan Parfumeur, launched in 1985 under the direction of Jean-François Laporte. Aldehydic bergamot and magnolia open into iris, ylang-ylang, jasmine and nectarine. Honey, vanilla and coumarin form the gourmand, powdery base of this vintage floral-oriental.
To me this smells like a vintage powder compact found in an antique shop — aldehydic bergamot and magnolia opening with a soft sparkle, iris and ylang-ylang going creamy-powdery in the middle, jasmine and nectarine adding a quiet fruit glow. Honey, vanilla and coumarin melt through the base like warm wax. It is a 1985 floral that smells like 1985 in the best possible way: elegant, powdery, and utterly unhurried. Aldehydes give the opening a soft champagne sparkle. Nectarine glows quietly through the powder like fruit in fog. Beginner-friendly.
