Composition
L'Amour is a floral woody musk by Nathalie Lorson, inspired by René Lalique's ceremonial glass door for a Tokyo palace. Bergamot, rose buds and neroli open the composition, leading to a white-floral heart of tuberose, jasmine and gardenia. Cedar, sandalwood and musk form the base.
To me this smells like a wedding morning in Jaipur — neroli and bergamot bright as marigold garlands being strung, rose buds fresh and dewy, and then the heart opens into a full white-floral orchestra: tuberose creamy and rich, jasmine heady, gardenia lush. It is romantic in the old, unironic sense. Musk, sandalwood, and cedar in the base keep it soft and close, like silk against skin. It is a love letter of a fragrance — floral, woody, musky, and completely sincere. Made for the day everything is supposed to smell perfect. Beginner-friendly.
