This is Encre Noire after dark. The opening is darker and more resinous — cypress and elemi with a smoky incense edge that feels like a temple courtyard at night. The heart doubles down on vetiver, earthy and rooty, while benzoin, sandalwood and patchouli warm the base into something almost balsamic. In Delhi or Bangalore winters this is superb — rich, long-lasting, quietly commanding. Not for beginners or hot weather: it's dense, smoky and unapologetically masculine in the old-school sense. If the original felt too austere, this warmer version might convert you.
