Composition
Labdanum 18 is Le Labo's 2006 amber-animalic by Maurice Roucel, an enigma that whispers rather than shouts. Labdanum and cinnamon open into civet, castoreum and tonka bean, over vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. Refined and elegant with a classic animalic touch — cashmere draped in smoke and spice.
This smells like a secret — the kind whispered, not told. Labdanum and cinnamon open warm and resinous, like old church wood, and then the animals arrive: civet and castoreum, feral and musky, moving underneath the tonka bean like something breathing under a blanket. Vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood and musk smooth it into cashmere draped in smoke — refined, elegant, and faintly dangerous. Roucel built a classic animalic here that whispers instead of shouts, but it still has teeth. Beautiful, strange, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
