Composition
The 2017 gourmand flanker of Kenzo World by Kurkdjian and Maïa Lernout. Black plum opens over peony and jasmine, with vanilla. Darker, sweeter and more nocturnal than the original.
To me this is a plum orchard at night — black plums splitting on the branch, juice dark as ink, peony and jasmine glowing white against it. The vanilla underneath is deep and warm, like the orchard keeper's cottage with the lamp on. The peony is almost watery against the dark plum, like moonlight on ink, and the jasmine adds a heady white edge — simple notes, but the contrast is everything. Darker and sweeter than the original World: a gourmand that went out after midnight and came back delicious. Beginner-friendly.
