Composition
Kenzo's spicy-woody men's fragrance by Olivier Cresp. Cinnamon, lime and bergamot open over nutmeg, cardamom and pepper, with a resinous-woody base of guaiac wood, sandalwood, cedar, benzoin and vetiver. Dense, warm and distinctly exotic.
To me this smells like a spice market in Kochi at noon — cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, pepper, all piled high and radiating heat off the sacks. Lime and bergamot cut through the top like a squeezed lime over the whole scene, bright and sharp. The base is pure jungle floor: guaiac wood, sandalwood, cedar, benzoin, vetiver — resinous, balsamic, dark. This is a 1998 powerhouse that does not believe in subtlety, and honestly, it doesn't need to. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
