Composition
Hommage à L'Homme was launched to mark Lalique's 20th anniversary in perfumery, composed by Christine Nagel and Mathilde Bijaoui. Violet leaf, saffron and bergamot open the composition, leading to a heart of violet, black pepper and pimento leaf. The base combines agarwood (oud), musk and cistus incanus.
To me this smells like the best-dressed man in the room, and he knows it. Violet leaf and saffron open — green, powdery, with saffron's strange leathery glow — bergamot keeping it crisp as a fresh shirt. Violet, black pepper and pimento leaf carry the heart with quiet spice, while oud, musk and cistus settle underneath like the dark lining of a perfect suit. The oud is there, but it's been tailored into submission — elegant, never loud. Twenty years of perfumery, distilled into confidence. Beginner-friendly.
