Composition
The 2025 third Ikebana opus by Ane Ayo and Florian Gallo. Indigo ink opens over powdery iris, with smoky blue vanilla. An ode to Japan's indigo blue — mineral, ambery and unique.
To me this smells like an artist's studio in Kyoto at dusk. The ink note is the whole story at first — mineral, blue-black, like a freshly ground sumi stick on wet stone — strange and beautiful and unlike anything else in a perfume bottle. Then the iris rises, powdery and cool as rice powder, and a smoky blue vanilla warms it from below, sweet but shadowed. It is minimalism with a pulse — three notes doing the work of thirty. Quietly radical, and somehow completely wearable. Beginner-friendly.
