Composition
Fleur Universelle 1900 is the immortelle opus of the Noir Premier collection, composed by Julie Masse. Rum, cardamom and pink pepper open the composition, leading to a heart of everlasting flower, cinnamon and myrrh. Tonka bean, lorenox and patchouli form the base.
To me this smells like an old apothecary cabinet in a house that has seen centuries. Rum and cardamom and pink pepper open dark and boozy, and then the everlasting flower — immortelle — arrives with its strange, smoky, maple-curry honeyed glow that you either worship or flee from. Cinnamon, myrrh, tonka and patchouli deepen it into something resinous and almost funereal. It is beautiful, but it is not trying to be liked — immortelle is a love-it-or-run note, and this one doesn't apologize. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
